Acts of Art and Rebuttal in 1971 (published 2018) is an exhibition catalogue and historical document edited by Howard Singerman and Sarah Watson. It documents the 1971 Rebuttal to the Whitney Museum Exhibition—a protest show by the Black Emergency Cultural Coalition against the Whitney’s Contemporary Black Artists in America—held at the artist-run Acts of Art Gallery in Greenwich Village.
